Course Leader for Popular Music BMus
Dr Adam Martin, Course Leader for Popular Music BMus, is a songwriter, performer, producer and researcher. His projects span electronic duo Nightports to music-food experiences (Unusual Ingredients). He’s currently writing a book on group songwriting.
Dr Catherine Haworth
Senior Lecturer
Catherine Haworth is a musicologist. Her research focuses on representation and identity in music, particularly in film and television soundtracks. She has published on gender and sexuality, crime films, James Bond, horror TV, and celebrity culture.

Dr Loz Colbert
Lecturer in Popular Music
Loz Colbert, Lecturer in Popular Music, has 36 years' industry experience. A founding member of RIDE and The Animalhouse, he’s also been a session musician for Supergrass, The Jesus and Mary Chain, St. Etienne, Damo Suzuki, and Gaz Coombes.
Preparing you for your future career
All our Music courses include an optional short-term or year-long work placement, helping to give you the essential skills employers are looking for. Hear from Alex Broadgate who studied Music BMus(Hons) and completed a placement with Anara Publishing.
For my work placement, my title was "Publishing and Sync Assistant" at Anara Publishing - an independent music publisher based in Leicester. My work placement gave me a general understanding of the music publishing industry and how it fits into the wider music industry as a whole.
