The environment is fundamental to our everyday lives; it affects everything we do, from air quality, animal survival and climate change to water quality, public health, deforestation and more. With an ever-growing need for expertise within the field, here at the University of Huddersfield we offer a range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels relating to helping our environment, all informed by world-leading research in the field. You’ll have the opportunity to study alongside our award-winning academic colleagues, access to specialist facilities all whilst studying on our beautiful campus where our aim is to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

There is a growing need for expertise focused on protecting and sustaining our environment. From lawyers and engineers to researchers and technicians, the field is vast and wide-ranging.

Our courses

Huddersfield Geophysicist joins the MOSAiC expedition to the arctic

Dr Byongjun (Phil) Hwang from the University of Huddersfield will join an international roster of scientists to embark on the Arctic's most ambitious scientific expedition to date, known as MOSAiC. Dr Hwang's research on the twelve-month International Arctic Drift Expedition is being funded by the UK's Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). He will climb aboard the 'RV Polarstern' icebreaker, during the Arctic summer to measure the dynamics of the Arctic sea ice.
