This session provides the opportunity for students to explore what physiotherapy is really about, as well as gain an insight into the way in which the course is taught at the University of Huddersfield.

Operating department practice - the exciting profession you may never have heard about!

This talk unravels the mystery of the role of Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), who provide skilled assistance to the surgeon and anaesthetists during the surgical process.  The care patients receive during an operation is complex and requires knowledge of anatomy and physiology as well as an understanding of the patients individual care needs during this vulnerable time in their surgical journey.

Podiatry - what does this profession involve?

This talk provides students with an insight into this exciting professional career choice and helps them understand what a Podiatrist is. Podiatrists are experts in all aspects of the foot and ankle; they are able to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs including wound care, surgery, sports medicine and specialist areas.

Occupational therapy - helping people live life to the full

How would you feel if you could not do the activities (occupations) that you need or want to do? This is where occupational therapy enables people to live a meaningful and purposeful life through participation in occupation. This session introduces students to the role of an occupational therapist and the range of valuable and diverse career opportunities available.

Learning Disability Nurse - what is this?

This session enables students to discover how Learning Disability Nurses work with people who have learning disabilities, their family carers and other professionals to provide specialist healthcare and support in people’s homes, workplaces, prisons, secure hospitals, general hospitals and schools.

Adult nursing - an introduction

This session will provide students with the opportunity to gain an insight into the role of the adult nurse and the career opportunities for those who qualify in this profession. It also enables students to explore how the nursing course is delivered at the University of Huddersfield.

This interactive session will show students what it is like to be a social worker and provide an insight into the important work that they do in their communities. Students will learn about the skills and knowledge needed to support individuals and their families and help to ensure that vulnerable people, including children and adults, are safeguarded from harm.
