Education Taster Days (including Primary Education)

Our Education Taster Days provide an excellent opportunity for students interested in studying courses related to working with children and young people. You'll find out what it's like to study Education at degree level and what career options could be available to you. If you're interested in becoming a primary school teacher, we'll give you an insight into what it's like to train to teach, and provide some handy tips on applying for a Primary Education teacher training course. 

We'll give you the chance to find out more about the courses we offer, including Childhood Studies, Early Childhood Education and Care, Education, Primary Education, and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Inclusion.

This session involves a presentation about the course along with a practical session for the students to implement thoughts that the presentation has provoked about Early Childhood Education and Care.

Primary Education session

Our Primary Education session is a fully interactive session where students work in teams to complete a learning activity.
The students consider how the activity may be used in schools with links to the curriculum.

The aim is for the students to begin to consider the big questions around the sociology of education and develop their values.

Secondary Education session

Our Secondary Education Session consists of a presentation of available subjects students could choose from when wanting to become a Secondary Teacher.
The presentation covers bursaries available to training teachers along with entry requirements to get onto the courses.
Along with the presentation, the students will take part in a practical session in one of the specialist subjects.

Student panels and facilities tours

We offer student panels as part of our Taster Days, and this gives your students the opportunity to hear from our current undergraduates who study at the University of Huddersfield and allow them to ask their own questions.

As part of your visit, our student ambassadors will also take students on a tour of the University of Huddersfield. They will visit all the key areas along with some of the best kept secret revision spots.
