Below are the answers to some of the most common questions about our Open Days.

Do I have to register to attend an Open Day?

It is highly recommended that you register in advance, although you can just turn up on the day. Registering to attend the Open Day means you'll be able to reserve your place on subject specific talks, tours and activities that run throughout the day.

Will I receive confirmation of my booking?

Yes, an email will be sent to you once you register to attend the Open Day‌. The email contains links to lots of useful information that will help you to make the most of the day. It also contains a QR code that allows for speedy check-in, so bring the email with you either on your phone or a print out and we'll scan it at the check-in desk.

I have special requirements/disabilities, how can you assist me?

Should you have any special requirements/disabilities that need to be taken into account on the day please contact the Schools and Colleges Liaison team direct on +44 (0)1484 472 282 or e-mail schools.liaison@hud.ac.uk before the Open Day so that we can make the necessary arrangements to make your day as enjoyable as possible.

What time should I arrive?

We recommend that you arrive early so that you have time to visit all the activities that you are interested in on the day e.g. subject drop ins and have a good explore around the University campus.

Can we see student accommodation?

Student halls visits will be available on the day - no booking is required. Once you are on campus you will find the DIGS help desk, where you can find information about the accommodation tour. A bus service will take you to and from the halls, so there's no need to worry about transport.

Please note that the University does not own its student accommodation. DIGS Student is the University-approved accommodation provider.

Alternatively, Huddersfield and its surrounding areas offer some great privately-owned accommodation so you have plenty of options to find a place that's right for you. To find out more about alternative accommodation please call +44 (0)1484 473 446 or visit HudLets - the lettings agency run by the Students' Union who will be available on the Open Day.

What do I need to bring with me on the day?

Simply bring your registration confirmation email with you either on your phone or as a print out. It contains a QR code so you'll be able to check-in quickly.

Do I need to check-in on the day?

Yes. The check-in area will be in the Oastler Building along with the Information Fair. A printed programme will be available for you to collect when you check-in on the day, which includes details of campus tour times, talks and rooms.

How many visitors can I bring?

We have no limit on the number of visitors attending with you. Children can accompany parents, however, we ask that if you are attending a presentation and they get restless that you wait outside the room so other visitors are not disturbed.

Where do I go when I arrive?

Please make your way to the Open Day check-in desks in Oastler Building clearly marked on our Open Day Campus Map. We have Student Ambassadors in orange T-shirts across campus to direct you throughout the day.

Where can I find a programme?

A printed programme will be available for you to collect when you check-in on the day. The Open Days programme contains details about all the activities happening on campus on the day. In the programme you can also find a schedule of what happens on the day including registration, general and subject-specific talks and a campus map. You can also view the Open Day Guide online.

What if I can't make it or want to change my booking?

You can amend or cancel your booking using the link within the registration confirmation email.

You can also let us know by contacting the Schools and Colleges Liaison Team on +44 (0)1484 472 282 or email schools.liaison@hud.ac.uk. We have Open Days in June, September, October, November and December if you would like to re-book.
