Information about your arrival and enrolment
This page is for international students who have applied to study at the University of Huddersfield.
You'll find useful information about your next steps, from booking your accommodation to completing your enrolment, and planning your arrival to the UK.
1. Key dates
This section sets out the key dates for enrolment according to your intake. Select the tab when you start your course with us.
3. Before you travel
Applying for your visa
Once you receive your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), you need to apply for your student visa.
When your visa has been granted, you must create a UKVI account to apply for a share code and travel to the UK within 90 days. More information on this is available on our Immigration Support web pages or you can contact the Immigration team for support.
Accommodation
You must arrange your accommodation before travelling to the UK. Huddersfield has great housing options for students and you can book with confidence using our recommended and approved accommodation providers.
We strongly advise living in Huddersfield but if you choose to live outside of the town, it must be no more than a one-hour journey from the University by public transport. If you have any concerns about your UK accommodation address, contact enrolment@hud.ac.uk in advance for confirmation.
Airport Checks
You may be asked to show certain documents upon arrival in the UK. These documents help prove your identity, study status, and living arrangements.
For a smooth arrival, keep copies of the following documents ready:
- Passport
- EVisa
- CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies)
- Recent Bank Statements
- UK accommodation address

Plan your travel to Huddersfield before you leave home; you can reach the town by train on National Rail and long-distance coach on National Express. If you choose to travel by train, please be aware that Huddersfield train station will be closed from Saturday 30 August to Monday 29 September.
We recommend travelling with some British pounds (Sterling), especially if you are planning to use taxis or public transport.
Travelling from Manchester International Airport
You can book a University-approved taxi (scroll down for full details) or buy train tickets in advance but taxis and trains will also be available upon your arrival at Manchester airport.
Travelling from other airports
If you are planning to arrive at a different UK airport, you may find public transport a more affordable option for travelling to Huddersfield.
- Leeds Bradford Airport – Shuttle buses travel into Leeds city centre where you can find trains and buses to Huddersfield.
- London – Huddersfield is 3 hours by train from London city centre and around 6 hours by coach.
- Liverpool John Lennon - Shuttle buses travel into Liverpool city centre, where you can find trains to Huddersfield.

5. Your enrolment
Once you have arrived in the UK you must complete your enrolment. There are three stages to your enrolment and you will receive an email on the 1 September 2025 from enrolment@hud.ac.uk with instructions of what to do.
You will need to have access to your MyHud portal to complete your enrolment, if you have applied to the University using an agent, it is important that you have your correct log-in details or this can cause delays to your enrolment.
