Call For Honorary Award Nominations
Who would you nominate for an honorary degree?
Every year the University awards a small number of Honorary Degrees at our graduation ceremonies. Our honorary award holders are a source of inspiration to our graduates and provide positive role models for their future. They are individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in a field or activity aligned to the mission and values of the University, or for their exceptional contribution to the University or local community.
A list of previous Honorary graduates is available on our website at Honorary graduates.
Making nominations
We are now seeking nominations for the July and November 2026 ceremonies. Please note that only nominations from the University community will be considered and that we particularly welcome nominations that support the University’s commitment to equality and diversity.
Eligible nominations will be considered by the Honorary Awards Committee each October, and recommendations will be made to the University’s Senate and Council as appropriate. Explore the Honorary Awards Committee Terms of Reference for more information on how nominations are considered.
If you would like to make a nomination, please do so by Tuesday 16 September 2025 at the latest.
