About Mark 

Mark is an established member of Huddersfield Business School’s teaching team, focusing on the areas of Change Management, People Management and Leadership. He has managed a number of successful bespoke courses for CIPD, Royal Mail, the NHS, Kirklees Council and Cabinet Office, and has taught on the Level 6 Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship for five years.  He is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  

Earlier in his career, Mark was an NHS Corporate Change Director, with Board-level responsibility for Human Resources and Development, Corporate Governance and TUPE Transfers. He was Project Director for the set-up of 28 NHS Special Health Authorities and was a member of the NHS Ministerial Advisory Board. Prior to joining Huddersfield Business School, Mark was Strategic HR Director for Blackpool Council with responsibility for an operational staff of 8000.

September 2024 Timetable

On this course you will be learning for an average of 6 hours per week minimum. Your learning will consist of workshops at Huddersfield Business School, remote learning and work-based learning within your organisation. You will be supported and guided to identify opportunities for work-based learning in the weeks you are not attending workshops.

Work based project 
Using the knowledge and skills learnt from previous modules you will undertake a work-based project.

Learning takes place over 13 months with an additional 6-month period at the end to complete a work-based project. 

Apprenticeships are 100% funded using levy funds for levy paying organisations, and are 95% funded from the levy for non-levy paying organisations.

A non-levy organisation would therefore pay £700 (based on 5% of £14,000) for the level 7. The small fee is divided and paid in equal instalments over the duration of learning ensuring affordability for all organisations, no matter what their size.

Organisations are required to set up an account to enable the funds to be transferred from the Levy.

Many local authorities have schemes which cover the 5% fee for organisations in their region. We can connect any non-levy paying organisation with their local authority in order to discuss this further.

To apply you will need to:

• Be in full time employment (minimum of 30 hours per week)
• Be employed in a relevant role
• Have the commitment of your employer to support you through the programm
• Have GCSE Maths and English Level 4 or above, or be prepared to achieve this within 13 months of starting the programme
