Professional Manager Apprenticeship (Level 5)

About Pete 

Since joining Huddersfield Business School in 2014, Pete has taught on undergraduate and post graduate courses in the UK and Hong Kong. His experience of apprenticeships is extensive: he has been Course Leader of the School's Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship since it was launched in 2018 and has successfully supported 21 learners to pass their End Point Assessment;  he is also an external examiner for degree apprenticeship programmes at two other institutes. Pete is very interested in the transfer of training and learning from theory to practice and based his PhD on this. He continues to publish work in this area in international journals. Pete is also a Chartered Manager and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. 

Prior to joining Huddersfield Business School, Pete worked as a vocational assessor before becoming a Lead Internal Verifier and Area Manager for a training provider. He then worked in learning and development for seven years, becoming a Chartered Member of the CIPD and gaining a Masters degree in Human Resource Development.

September 2024 Timetable

On this course you will be learning for an average of 6 hours per week minimum. Your learning will consist of workshops at Huddersfield Business School, remote learning and work-based learning within your organisation. You will be supported and guided to identify opportunities for work-based learning in the weeks you are not attending workshops.

Work based project 
Using the knowledge and skills learnt from previous modules you will undertake a work-based project.

Learning takes place over 13 months with an additional 6-month period at the end to complete a work-based project. At the end of the programme, you will have the option to progress to the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (levy funded).

Apprenticeships are 100% funded using levy funds for levy paying organisations, and are 95% funded from the levy for non-levy paying organisations.

A non-levy organisation would therefore pay £350 (based on 5% of £7,000) for the level 5. The small fee is divided and paid in equal instalments over the duration of learning ensuring affordability for all organisations, no matter what their size.

Organisations are required to set up an account to enable the funds to be transferred from the Levy.

Many local authorities have schemes which cover the 5% fee for organisations in their region. We can connect any non-levy paying organisation with their local authority in order to discuss this further.

To apply you will need to:

• Be in full time employment (minimum of 30 hours per week)
• Be employed in a relevant role
• Have the commitment of your employer to support you through the programm
• Have GCSE Maths and English Level 4 or above, or be prepared to achieve this within 13 months of starting the programme
