“I wanted to study in the UK because it possesses high standards of education which is very good for improving my professional career as an educational manager. Moreover, this country has wonderful history of human and socio-economic development as well as cultural heritage and a number of dramatic landscapes that I can explore to enlarge my knowledge of various culture and people in the world. Furthermore, I was also indicated that this modern country is safer than other developed countries so thousands of international students have been coming and studying to pursue their academic aspiration.
“The reason why I chose Huddersfield is because I strongly believe that this place would support me good conditions for both living and studying. Firstly, the School of Education and Professional Development here which is highly ranked amongst domestic institutes of education includes an ideal course that meets my studying aspiration. Secondly, that is the convenience of online application and the enthusiasm and helpfulness from International Officers so I could fast complete the application process and have enough time to arrange my family life as well as work for studying abroad.
“Additionally, that is the factor of geography and climate in Huddersfield. I would have the feelings of safety and inclusion in a town which is not too big or too small. The fresh air as well as clean and quite environment here would help me keep healthy and concentrated in study or doing research. Finally, living cost in Huddersfield is not as high as in some other big cities like London or Manchester so I believed that I could have a comfortable student life here.
“Before coming here, I worked for the Department of Education of a district in Vietnam for eight years. I also had three years experienced in a secondary school as an English teacher and then the Vice Principal of the school. My job of a Head Manager in the Department of Education included driving belonged schools to implement the policies and educational programs of Ministry of Education and Training; planning strategy for the development of pre-school, primary and lower secondary education of the district; setting up plans of universal primary education and universal lower secondary education of the district; monitoring and mentoring the implementations of educational targets of the belonged schools; observing teachers’ teaching and giving comments to encourage them in teaching improvement; and organising workshops to improve teachers’ teaching skills and school leaders’ management skills. After several years of working, I realized that in order to do such work well and do something better for the local education, I needed to have professional knowledge and practice of management and leadership in education. Therefore, when the provincial Government launched Mekong 1000 project, I applied for a scholarship to study abroad to pursue my aspiration. And the University of Huddersfield was my first-chosen destination.
“After a short time living and studying in Huddersfield, this place brought me many interests, and I think I am becoming involved in it. The town itself has its natural beauty with green hills, forest, and many kinds of flowers blooming during the year, of course, except the winter. I love the fresh environment and the quiet of the town that are very good for my health and study.
“People here are so kind and friendly that they are willing to talk with me so I can improve my speaking English skill as well as help me find the way home when I get lost. The University’s campus is well facilitated with modern and friendly teaching and learning equipment like computers, projectors, smart boards, internet, and so on. I am really fascinated by the University library which is big enough to meet all my needs of reading and doing research. The campus is located in the centre of the town, which is very convenient for me to go shopping and entertaining after hard study. Especially, I appreciate that all of my tutors are not only very professional but also helpful and inspiring, and University staff are friendly and kind as well.
“After finishing my MA course, I will come back to my country and set up strategies to refine my work of educational manager to develop local education so that all children can go to school and appreciate equal quality of education, and local school leaders and teachers can become more effective in their career.”

“The UK has a prestigious and long history of education, a strong financial and economic network and a dynamic working environment.
“I was recommended the University of Huddersfield through a friend who graduated from there and spoke very positively about it. So when the University made a visit to my city I had the opportunity to speak with staff and explore a little more about Huddersfield. I also discovered the Vietnamese student society that exists at the University. Through this group I was able to establish friendships before I arrived.
“The University offers state-of-the-art facilities, has very supportive staff and is a very affordable place to study compared with the bigger cities in the UK. It is a good opportunity to mingle with people from different countries and being in Huddersfield allows you to be in a friendly environment.
“My course helps me to develop my previous experiences of working in multi-national companies such as Unilever and provides a chance to accelerate my professional career in the sales and marketing industry.”

“I was attracted to the UK by the beautiful landscapes seen on TV. The opportunity of an education in the UK will be highly competitive and help in job seeking back home.
“I chose Huddersfield as the University is among few that offer the course I would like to take which included Brand Development). The tuition fee is affordable for my family compared to other universities. I was extremely attracted by the fact that there is a diversity of students from all over Europe studying here while in other bigger universities the majority is Asian or Chinese. Last but not least, the landscape is exactly up to my expectation about beautiful and peaceful England.
“The town is lovely and a good place to study. Huddersfield people are very friendly and helpful. There is no social discrimination seen here, which makes every student feel easy to stay in harmony with others. The University has attractive and modern library services which inspired me a lot in my study. My tutors provide fair evaluations on my work which is helpful.
“I am interested in relationship building that connects people and help solve problems in life. I want to become a PR expert who people like and trust. On succeeding in becoming so, I will open my own business in hospitality and consulting industry. Overall, I am satisfied with my experience at the University“.

"Coming from a non-English-speaking country so far away from here my studies were a challenge but with encouragement and help of the politics staff I had the motivation and confidence to finish my course. My time at the University of Huddersfield was the best experience I have had in my life and it will be in my heart forever. I strongly recommend that potential students apply to the Division of Criminology, Politics and Sociology.
"During my time on the International Politics degree I was introduced to an in-depth study of a range of international issues, including terrorism, development and globalisation. I chose to focus on decision-making and democracy in the European Union for my dissertation.”
She has since gone on to postgraduate study in the United Kingdom.
