"I studied International Business for one year in Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences. I came to Huddersfield to do second year of my degree as an exchange student. Before I started my exchange year I had good basic knowledge what all international business field includes. This helped me to choose the right modules to study in Huddersfield University.
"My home university has contacts with University of Huddersfield. Before I hadn’t even heard about Huddersfield town but after searching more information it came clear for me that Huddersfield is the place where I wanted to go.
"I have been inspired by Britain for a long time. UK with a contrast of beautiful countryside landscapes and modern cities is an interesting combination for a country with a long history. Naturally the choice was easy also because of the knowledge of English language. Because of the many years of English studies, I knew I would survive with my English skills in daily life tasks. United Kingdom is part of the European Union and the country has a great impact on international business worldwide. I wanted to learn more about business life in UK and see what it is like to live in this beautiful country.

University has many education programs so I knew I would get to know many new people. Even if Huddersfield is not one of the top 5 biggest cities in UK, as a student town I knew it would be lively. I didn’t have any expectations about Huddersfield and I came with open mind and ready for new experiences. It was worth it!
"I have always been interested in international cooperation. That’s why the choice of start to study international business was easy. To get a bigger view of internationality it was even easier to choose the exchange year. As an exchange student I was able to get to know people from different backgrounds and to learn what it is like to be a student in UK. My dream is to work abroad and with international business degree and international experiences I’m sure I will reach my goals.
"Huddersfield town offers everything what student needs. Town has a busy night life and it has enough restaurants and shops to fill students’ needs. If you still want more action, town is located nearby Manchester and Leeds. From Huddersfield it is easy to travel around UK by train. Campus itself has a huge library with good possibilities for students to do uni work. There are cafés around campus where students can buy snacks and hot drinks. Business School has a new building where students have a good class rooms to follow professional teaching. Staff of the university is very friendly. If I had a problem I was sure they would do everything to help me.
"After graduation I want to do my placement in UK. Exchange year in Huddersfield made me realize how much I actually like UK. I want to work with international relations and business field will be good way to reach my goal. I’m not sure yet where my future will lead, but experience from studies in another country will definitely open me new doors in the future.

Having had a strong passion for media, I set my sights on studying abroad to help my development of the English language.
“After declining several offers from other institutions, I left Finland for Huddersfield to study the Media and Print Journalism for three years.
"A lot of other courses I looked at were too theoretical, however Huddersfield seemed to be the only University offering a good balance of theory and practical study. In my final year I did two placements back in Finland as part of my final year project on regional newspapers, comparing them to British publications".
