Jean-Paul Otamonga from Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo is currently a PhD research student in Chemistry at the University.
"I wanted to come to the UK because of its reputation for science and research. I originally studied my MSc in Analytical Chemistry at Huddersfield as they offered the course that I wanted. I found the University relatively cheaper for tuition fees and low living costs compared to the UK towns.
"Back home I worked for laboratory of quality control and realized if I wanted to match lab services and demanding customer requirements, I had to develop and improve my knowledge in analytical chemistry.
"Huddersfield is generally a university town, very peaceful with lovely inhabitants. The campus, tutors and facilities are simply fantastic. I am looking forward to completing my research and become qualified to be an eminent professor of a university back home."
