“I believe the UK is on the pulse of fashion. It’s quicker to see fashion trends starting and it’s also rich in fashion resources that are valuable to a student designer who is just starting to get their feet wet.
“I chose Huddersfield because of the recommendations from my professors back home, positive feedback from friends and also from the great results of research I’ve done. It was in an area of the UK that I felt safe and at home in, it has a great community within the fashion department and I found support from not only the teachers but other students who just loved to be at the University.
“Ever since I was six years old I wanted to do something with my hands. I was self taught at sewing and after expanding my knowledge through high school and college I decided to take my curiosity and yearning for more to the next level. Huddersfield is understanding of my passion and is fully prepared to help me achieve that next step.
“The people are just as beautiful and original as the town they come from. It’s easy to feel like your part of the community and find someone to talk to even if it’s a school related problem or you just want to break away from school work. Everyone has a smile on their face and typically say hello.
“My future career goal is to eventually become a designer and have my own brand. But of course I need to be patient and learn the building blocks to success first. I hope to find a designer to apprentice under and sharpen all my skills in hopes that it will prepare me for a bigger life in the crazy roller coaster world of fashion.”
